Judith Lindbloom, a native of Detroit, moved to New York City in 1953 and became a second generation Abstract Expressionist.   She was particularly close with Franz Kline.   Jazz was a lifelong passion, and she was well known in musicians' circles at the time; she lived with saxophonist Steve Lacy and his wife in a romantic partnership from 1960-1962.  In the 1970s, she moved to San Francisco, where she continued to paint until her death.

As the history of the AbEx movement expands to include artists who were marginalized due to gender and sexual orientation, Lindbloom's work has seen increasing recognition in recent years.

She is represented in the greater New York City area by Lawrence Fine Art.  For more information you can visit her website: www.judithlindbloom.com
