Robert Clark Nelson (1928-2007) was a painter, graphic designer, and book designer who studied at Bethel College and the Minneapolis School of Art. He taught at Bethel College and later became a faculty member at the College of St. Catherine for over two decades. During this time, he served as head of the Art Department and director of the Catherine G. Murphy Gallery. His work was displayed at prestigious galleries such as the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Suzanne Kohn Gallery, with many posters designed for exhibitions across the Twin Cities.
